K&N CAI Question :: Hissing Sound?

So I just put my intake on today and took it for a test-ride after it was all said and done. When I was cruisin up the parkway by my house, I noticed that during like a steady acceleration around 30mph or so, I get this sort of hissing-styled sound. So me and my dad checked it out and it didn't seem like anything was loose and/or leaking anywhere; and he though it was just the intake sucking in air.

I was just wondering if this explanation makes any sense or if there shouldn't be that hissing sound at all. We had done his yesterday, and his had no hiss.

As far as engines and whatnot;
My truck is a 2004 XLT Flareside Scab. 4.6L with cat-back exhaust system; 18" Magnaflow and all stainless pipes

My dads truck is a 2005 Lariat Screw 5.4L stock minus the intake.

And I had done a quick search but didn't find anything much.

Thanks much guys

That makes sense, I just wanted to be sure and to get another opinion because we're both new to the whole 'aftermarket' world, y'know?

But yeah I love the sound it makes when you stomp it.

you need to get custom tunes for both trucks. especially the 04-05. they run very lean with aftermarket intakes with the stock tunes.

I think the major lean condition comes from 5.4s, IIRC the 4.6 is ok with it. Custom tunes will though help in actually getting more power out of the intake.

Man I got that setup with a throttle body spacer, waste of money don't get one, and man it sounds like a turbo spooling.

This is what I've been hearing and reading about. I dont know if my dad is going to pull the trigger on one, but I plan to some time in the near future; hopefully before summers done.

I've been looking into the Gryphon PHP's. They seem to be the popular choice around here. A bit pricey but from what I've seen, lots of guys swear by them. So I'm going to continue to do my research on these.

Would it sound like a turbo spooling with just the TB Spacer and no aftermarket intake?
