Intake without exhaust?

I would like to get the AEM Brute Force intake. The only question I have is do I need to also do the exhaust? If I don't will it somehow screw up the truck? Any feedback would be great, and if this is posted elsewhere, I didn't find it, so I apologize in advance.

Don't see how you missed it, as it gets talked about frequently. You are playing with danger on a 2004-2005 when you mess with the intake and do not have custom tunes. They tend to run in a near lean condition from the factory and any increased air can cause problems. In addition, you really don't get all that much gain from a CAI unless you do have custom tunes.

A tuner is by far your best mod for increased performance anyhow, so get an Xcal3 or a Gryphon, then a CAI. The catback exhaust does not require a tune, but it does help with a CAI.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't really looking for horsepower per se, I was looking for something to help the truck breathe better, perhaps get a few more MPG's out of the deal.

I hear ya, and again I appreciate the info. And I don't know why I couldn't find the info elsewhere; must have been a bad search day.

When I say increased performance, I am not speaking of just power. It all goes together. More horsepower, more torque, better efficiency, and better shifting. A tuner makes it a totally different driving experience.

Bluejay hit the nail on the head there! Even when I was just running stock tunes, it was like I had a new truck! Once I got my custom tuned Gryphon I had a beast on my hands!
