well do u want a short ram or long ram intake? do u want an intake that needs to be oiled every 10k miles..like a k&n? or a volant thats dry and only needs to be oiled every 100k? ive got a k&n and i love it.
The Volant is different but some people would consider it "better" because it is a "true" CAI. It is completely sealed from the hot air under the hood. The K&N is not.... It has a shield, but little gaps let the engine draw in hot air. volant is louder than K&N..The K&N is easier to install, and in all honesty will probably make the same amount of power as the volant. The intake air on these trucks will be heated by the hot intake manifold on it's way into the cylinders anyway, and will reach just about the same intake temps roughly, no matter which intake you go with. so regardless of intake style, even if you use a K&N where you are sucking in "hotter" air, the air will heat on it's way into the motor anyway.
The volant looks nice and fits pretty well from what I've seen, but BOTH are excellent choices for an intake...

ok so between a k&n and a volant the only difference in the end is the sound? and i think i will like the volant being louder so i seen where you can get an addon ram air for a volant...do you know anything about that?

difference is sound, maintenance, and being completely closed off vs. semi closed with hot air coming in through the gaps..personal choice

i dont know whether you have a heritage edition or new body but if you have a new body truck, you'll need a custom tuner for your truck.
1 so that you'll get the best results from the intake.
2 your truck can(and most likely will) run too lean without a tune for an aftermarket induction system. sometimes the engine will be running at borderline specs and wont throw a check engine light.

X2, it's cheaper then the K&N but has the enclosed box like the Volant. If wanted to drop a few hundred bucks on a CAI, I'd get the S&B.

Also, don't forget the Gotts Mod. It cost $15 and has nearly the same results as the real CAI's.

What intake is the X2? Sorry for my ignorance but I'm looking for an intake to get some cooler air for my Eaton supercharger.
