Dissapointed in new exhaust setup
I had true duals with glasspacks, and stock cats. It used to run out at my bumper at 45 degree angles, and it sounded great, but after two years my tips began to rust and look like crap. So right after my glasspacks I dumped it under my bed before the rear axel. Exhaust shop guys said that it would be louder with this new setup, but boy were they wrong. It sounds terrible now, maybe a little louder than stock.
So my question is there anything I can do to make it louder, like maybe an X or H-pipe. I'm really dissapointed right now and can't stand the sound at the moment any help would be greatly appreciated.

In my opinion dumping an exhaust is louder on stock height or lowered vehichles because the sound can echo and bounce around under the truck. When you lift the truck like you did it doesnt really do anything. Depending on the tips you had they were resonating the sound and with a small inlet and large outet they work like megaphones to project the sound. (Think of those things cheerleaders use to make people hear them)
It's ok buddy, we all know you've learned better now, lol.
But back to the topic, an X is in order for some of you torque back, even though you haven't mentioned it. As for the sound, you could run a Lightning exit. That will get your sound back and then some depending on what size tips you run.

I'm about ready to beat some *** at the only good exhaust place here, they don't want to put one in for me, probably because there isn't enough money in it to even bother. So I'm redoing my tailpipes sometime and I'll make them throw one in there then.
No one want to make money at an exhaust shop?! You could always do it yourself, just find a welder and a hacksaw!

I guess 50 bucks isn't worth it to them?

Probably, it'd give it more to echo off of.
Oh yeah, definitely. You know when you roll up a newspaper in the shape of a cone and talk through it, it sounds like you are louder. Same principle applies to tips. Just get a good set of 3.5 X 12's and run them out the side.
The tips alone will get your sound back, but the H/X will alter your tone and add some power back. H's are cheap and still have that nice choppy raspy true dual sound, but so do X's, but more moderately.
Couldn't of been said any better. I prefer X's because they are more based on performance than H is based on sound.
