Volant cai ???

I talked to Troyer last week, I have an X3 coming. They say I can run a Volant CAI with no problems. Has anybody used Volent. Let me know the good and the bad. I have heard nothing about them.
Thanks

I don't own one, but I have heard about fitment issues on a few sites and products reviews. Performance wise, I've heard good things, especially becuase it is a closed box system, so it stays colder than just a filter exposed to the engine heat. That seems to be what I have read overall.

I have one........ It is alright, I had K&N's on my other trucks, it is pretty decent, but really no difference in my opinion except for the fact that the damn thing sounded like my truck was moooooing like a damn holstein everytime I hit the gas. Got a tuner from VMP and all is well. I give it a 7 out of 10, thinking about switching out the filter to a volant powercore filter, some new foam type filter they are promoting.

I have one on my 08 lariat and love it. I also have the power core 100,000 mile dry filter. It gives you so much better responsiveness. No more lag when you stompt the gas. Install wasnt to bad the box says it has two spots to screw down to but the one hole didnt ahve anything to line up to in my truck. But other then that it is good. Here is pics.

Hmmmmm looks eerily like my truck, I think we might have the same tone of green, or yours might be a little brighter. You like the powercore? fitment in mine was not a problem either, fits better than a K&N IMO, I should just buy the damn powercore filter and slap it in.....

Need Help with Volant

I got the Volant with the Powercore Filter about 8 months ago and I need some help with it. It started making a terrible vibrating noise while accelerating. Enough so I ended up taking it off and putting my stock intake back on my truck. What a mistake that was!!!! The truck is a dog without the Volant. The only way I can think of describing the stock filter is: Imagine getting the breath knocked out of you and feeling like you cant suck anymore air in. I need some suggestions as how to get rid of the vibration noises. I have already tried tightening all screws/bolts/clamps. Any suggestions? I was thinking of possibly wrapping the tube with a tape of some kind. Anything you guys can think of would be appreciated. I would like to put it back on this weekend.

You can go with an S&B CAI. It's cheaper then a Volant and K&N, and offer the same performance as the Volant. Or if you want to go even cheaper, you can try the Gotts mod, cost me $12 for that one.

The Gotts intake was very helpful in MPG with my dads truck. It's an '08 5.4. we actually didnt do the real gotts mod, we just drilled a whole in the bottom of the last part of the intake tube, and mpg's jumped from 16.8 to 17.6 lol!

What part of the intake did you drill through? Sounds like this mod has untapped potential!
