Gotts Ram Air???

OK this may sound crazy but i need your input. well ive been deployed for a few months now so im not arround my truck to see it it will work, but my question is has anybody thought/tried doing the gotts mod with a ram air? ok heres my thoughts where the pvc tube comes through the fenderwell putting an 90 degree elbow on it and routing it down behind the bumper. Then making a scoop out of sheetmetal and mounting it to the cutout in the bumper to force the air into the intake while still keeing the whole stock look. so let me know what you think!!! I may try it when i get home and see what happens.

Sounds pretty restrictive. The Gotts mod made the intake tube larger in diameter because it was too restrictive to begin with. I have a feeling that a 90 degree elbow will cause more restriction than the stock intake.

The Airaid Jr takes air from behind the headlight housing. It would be similar to a "ram", somewhat.

there are tons of homemade ram air kits that you have described, unfortunately ram air really doesn't help out that much (for air volume) since no matter what diameter intake you have, or anything else you do to the intake system, your throttle body will still only allow a certain volume past it in N/A form.

You could put a filter on the TB and it will still only allow so much air through it. Only benefit you can get from "ram air" is cooler air from outside the engine compartment.

While on the ram air topic... has any one noticed an improvement with ram air hoods (I eventually am doing one) performance wise. The Good Hood high rise looks amazing, but any performance gains?

Not that I know of. If you calculate it out, you need to be going more than 150MPH to even get like 0.1lbs of boost. It might get a little bit more power compared to an intake that draws warmer air from the engine compartment but not much. Plus it'd be a pain to cover up the hood scoop every time it rains so you don't get a bunch of water in your intake.

i did a ram air with hood scoop i used brackets off my K&N77 intake i took the MAF bracket and put it on my TB cut a hole in the rubber boot got a plastic barb fitting and put the IAC to it put the IAT right next to the MAF so it can get a reading of the air coming in the scoop. truck runs good and picks up a lil better on the highway
