not what i expected?!

not what i expected?!

i installed my flowmaster yesterday and it doesnt sound at all like what i expected. i cut off the old one and replaced it with the flowmaster and used some pieces and kept the stock tip. why is that?

depends on what you were expecting and if you installed the same series as you wanted

What Flowmaster muffler did you use, 40 series, 50 series?

i used the 40 series and my cousin has the same one except his came with his truck and sounds alot louder then mine.

It takes 1000 miles to break in, then it will be loud.

are you using your stock tubes? Is his muffler a si/so or si/do?

I noticed with mine that if you let the truck idle for a little bit and let the exhaust heat up to burn all the oil out of it, it will start sounding better and better. By the way is it a 4.6L or 5.4L?

The stock tip may also be effecting the overall sound. Maybe you should have a shop weld on a good 3.5 inch tip.

yea i kinnda noticed that when the truck had been running a little it sounds decent.

The stock tip may also be effecting the overall sound. Maybe you should have a shop weld on a good 3.5 inch tip
would this make a difference??

x2 thats what I would do, it would make it deeper. I know these things have break in periods but IMO it doesn't get much louder: in other words if your not satisfied now, your probably not gone to be satisfied later. but a tip would help it some.

Single In, Single out. If you had dual, you would of had tip on the other side, I'm assuming You are single exit.

It'll break in in a few days and you will be okay..

Most of the sound comes from the tailpipes and the tip.

so then would going and getting a different outlet pipe and tip make a difference?
cause its a 2.5inch in and out
