Intake Opinion

Ok, so here is my idea I came up with. I purchased a K&N '77 Series CAI shortly after I got my truck (2001 4.2 Scab). At the time, the '57 Series with the ceramic tube was about $50-$75 more for an extra 1.x HP, so I didn't justify the extra cost to get that.

So what I had in mind is this...
Take my chrome tube which is a greater conductor of heat () and wrap it in some heat wrap to reduce the amount of heat the tube absorbs to cool the air a bit.

Do y'all think this is worth trying? Or should I just leave the chrome tube as is....

Thanks for your input in advance.

Derek

That should work, i know they do that to headers to keep the heat down in the engine bay. Should do the same thing to keep the heat off the intake tube.

I dont think it matters that much.I would leave it the way it is.af1 and many others have a metal tube and work fine.
