manifolds on a 97

Hi,

I need new exhaust manifolds on my 97 with a 5.4. Does anyone have any info on the manifolds sold on ebay? Do they last? I called my local Ford stealer here in NS and was quoted almost $900 for Ford manifolds.

If anyone has any info on which direction I should take, I'd certainly appreciate it!

Doug

I have an extra oem set i can part w/. they were only in use for 30k miles, and were pulled for a longtube header install. No cracks or leaks in the manifolds, surface rust apparent. insides ok. i would be willing to part w/ mine for a fourth of ford's quote. i don't have studs or gaskets. my email is minimonster17 at hotmail dot com, if you are interested...

yeah well I got TWO sets of stock manifolds for the 5.4 that are just sitting out in the shed collecting dust. One drivers side is practically brand new as well, I can give you the used stock gaskets as well as some studs if you would like. Toss out an offer if you are interested.

Thanks guys. I've done a lot of reading and if I WAS going to replace my manifolds with shorties, which brand would be best for maritime roads? There is a lot of salt on the roads here and wonder if the brand or coating type makes a difference in longevity of the headers. I contacted the previous owner of the truck and he replaced the manifolds back in 2004, so I'm getting 4ish years out of them.

Would a certain brand of shorty last longer than manifolds?

I put on the Gibson s/s shorties, they come with gaskets and s/s bolts to replace the studs.
