Torque tubes worth the $?
That's AWESOME dude!! I'd love to do longtubes down the road but was always concerned about finding a shop willing to do the work for me. Are you in Sugarland, TX? If so, I'm about an hour from you. We should hook up after you get your work done and let me check ém out! (or just tell me which shop you used. lol)
I will definetely let you know when its done. I'll also put up a link for sound when done. I am trying to be patient but its hard! I wouldn't mind checking out your truck as well. I like the stance, thats my next project. Yeah sugarland, tx.
Just curious, the guys that say Shorty's are no good all seem to have the older (Pre 2004) trucks, aren't the engines and heads different in these trucks ? I'd sure like to hear from someone with a 2004 or newer truck who has actually tried Shorties and Long Tubes to hear what they think.
i agree with someones opinion thats tried both. that would be interesting. not sure about engine and head designs but from what i've read, you gain very little power with shorties. their power increases are in the low and mid range of the rpm's which helps throttle response but still not much gain. plus if you have someone install them, your paying close to the same amount. so why not go lt's
its a known fact here on F150OL.com that shorties gain 0 HP and 0 Ftlbs while longtubes and differnt cats CAN and MIGHT gain upwards of 30HP and 35 Ftlbs of TQ. Shorties are nothing more than a cheap altertive to stock exhuast manifolds...if its power your after get longtubes.... all you have to do for the o2's is make the wires longer...thats not very hard and you just have to relocate the cats...if you have a good exhuast shop this wont be hard.... as for those Torque tubes my buddy had a 97 exploder with those and i help him put it on man fords wonderful idea to shove a 302 in an exploder......wow..... anyways the thing was quick factory but with the torque tubes...it was night and day diff... now i cant say for TQ tubes vs longtubes but i think long tubes would win.... good luck!
pacesetters sell ceramic and coated. plus it matters where you live if they rust bad or not
Power gains will vary based upon boost level, but typically run in the area of 30 RWHP in supercharged applications running lower boost levels, a bit less in normally aspirated applications.
right from troyer's website describing gains with the headers.

Damn, how much did it cost you?
