Magnaflow Pictures...Is this a Problem??!!

Hey Everyone,

When I was underneath my truck the other day running the power cable for my stereo install, I decided to take a look around. I noticed this on my muffler and was a bit concerned.

Here's the pic (this is the end closest to the front of the truck):

What do you think? Time for replacement? This is not the stainless steel version. I've had it for a bit over 5 years now. Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah, that's a problem. Might want to invest in a stainless steel muffler this time around.

Thanks for the quick response. So I take it, its time to be replaced? I didn't go with the stainless last time because I live in San Antonio and figured we don't have a whole lot of weather elements to warrant paying the extra. I also wasn't sure how long I'd have the truck so figured if I got a good 5-7 years out of it, that'd be ok.

Now I know I've had it for 5 years, but is this to be expected from the non-stainless? It appears to me there was some sort of leak developing in the pipe entrance that resulted in moisture pooling down the front and ultimately rotting through. Just want to know if this is about what I should expect or if there is any way I can swing a defective product story!! Doubt that would fly. What should I put on there this time? Haven't really read a whole lot about the exhausts lately. Anything new I should try? 02 FX4 supercrew 5.4L. Thanks for the responses.

If You Contact the place that you purchased that muffler from we will cover it under the same warranty as the Stainless Steel Muffler . If you have any questions you can email me at the address below.

OK, that makes up MY mind! I'm DEFINITELY going with Magnaflows on my truck! CUSTOMER SERVICE is a BIG thing to me!

BTW, russ10screw, tell me if I guessed right. Do you make alot of short trips in your truck, i.e. carry the kids to school, run down to the corner store, etc...? That rust is from condensation not being completely burned out of the exhaust system because the truck wasn't ran long enough to get hot.

x2 - honestly, in this day and age, not too many companies give a hoot about c.s. OP - let us know what happens. If they help you out, I will for sure buy a Maggie for my truck. I'm one who'd rather spend the extra $ to get good value and service rather than not.

Eddies - I have about a 25-30 minute commute to work everyday, but I then make at least a few trips to my second job, which is about a 5-10 minute drive.

wrobo23 - Actually what was unfortunate was I had already changed out the muffler when MagnaflowRep responded. I decided to change up the sound and went with a Cherry Bomb Vortex. I then posted my message to MagnaflowRep to see what I needed to do and never heard back. I needed a bit more information as to what I needed to tell the muffler shop and I didn't hear back from him, which was a bummer.
