Headers Wanted, but what else?

I have the Roush Off Road cat back and want to get pacesetter long tubes next pay check. What else would i need to get (y pipe?, high flows cats?, etc?) in order to hook up the headers to my SIDO cat back? an '05 4.6 by the way. Thankyou in advance for any feedback

Get a Y pipe from magnaflow, and have a shop install 2 high flow cats on the Y pipe and install. Youll have to get a tuner to tune out the check engine light you will get from the cats, other then that nothin else. IIRC.

Keep in mind that
1) you will not pass smog with your long tubes.
2) you will need a private shop to remove your cats and install the high flows
3) you can order your parts from performancepeddler.com

anaheim drew - doing a little more searching on here yields the fact that CA sucks. Is it possible to install long tube headers and keep the oem cats for emissions purposes? if so, would I still get noticeable power gains in the lower end?
and also, what IS a no no in CA (in terms of emissions and cops)? i know i have the Roush OR, but i could care less.

Couple of questions for you;
What mods do you have on your truck now? What style is your truck? Reg,Supercab,Supercrew. 2 or 4wd? Wheel/tires size... etc...

2005 XLT supercab with the flareside bed, 4.6, 3.55 gears, ROUSH off road cat back, ROUSH 20" wheels, not sure about tire size but they are nice and wide, and an S & B intake sitting in my garage ready to install as soon as I get the gryphon with custom tune.
I am also looking at an efan, 4.10 gear swap, and lowering the rear 2". anything to offset the negative power apects of the 4.6, 3.55, and 20" wheels. a supercharger and intercooler would be sick, but the wallet's not fat enough at the moment. my last ride was an '89 supercoupe with a posi and 5 spd. that thing ripped. it would be nice to somewhat be reminded of the thunder chicken with the torque and the supercharger whine

CA really blows for emissions. The S & B is not legal in CA, I am pretty sure only the K&N is CARB certified so far. Any mod to the stock cat configuration is illegal. If you have 4, you have to keep 4. Cats can't be removed or replaced unless they are damaged, or malfunctioning. Also, there are no supercharger "kits" for the 04+ 4.6L F150's it would have to be custom. If you ask around enough I am sure you can find a person that does smog checks that will pass your truck with the high flow cats and s&b.

Based on the info above, you would have been disappointed with the end results of changing your exhaust system.
The 4.10 gear swap is what you need to put a smile on your face..

You could take a hammer to your cats and say that someone tried to steal them. That way you could get the high flow ones installed. But the legal way would to be to cross the border into a decent state and have another exhaust shop do it.

Where did you find the Pacesetters? I have an '08 5.4L 4X4 SCrew. I am looking for some long tubes too. I checked the web site, no luck. I was loking at some Doug Thorleys or Banks torque tubes (I know they're not long tubes, at least they have equal length tubes unlike most of the shorty ones out there).
