K&N Intakes (57 & 77 Series)

Hello All,

I don't post much but visit often. I was looking for some advice quick, ordering tonight before my coupon expires. I'm looking at the K&N Air Intakes @ JC Whitney. I got a $50 gift certificate to them and have some cash from Christmas. This will be my first real mod besides a radio & alarm that I have done. I have a 2003 Ford F-150 V6 4.2L Manual. I'm not really looking for a different manufacturer although if you want to suggest go ahead, I'm really looking for advice of these 2 and if one is better than the other.

I have done some research on Google on these two and was wondering if anybody has them or if they can tell me what they think about the two. The only difference I have really seen from doing some Google searches is the tubing and what it is made of. I think I personally like the 77 series better from what I have heard from videos and reading. What are your opinions or experience with them?

[JC Whitney K&N 57 & 77 Series]

Thanks,
-Russell

Only difference is the 77 is nice and shiny, and the 57 is a black plastic tube.

You might get a little more performance with the 57 series since the plastic is less likely to absorb heat than the 77 series' metal tube, which means lower IATs. Thats the theory behind it anyway. My guess is you probably wouldnt be able to tell a difference between the two if you were driving.

Do you want pretty (77), or maybe more power (57) ???

If it were me I would go with whatever is cheaper.

i got the 57 on my truck its an 05 crew cab and the 57 relocates ur throttle body it comes with a plastic space and it lifts it and angles it more i dont no what it does for it and i think the 77 keeps the trottle body where it is and comes with a rubber elbow to connect it. i can take a pic if u want to see what i am talking about
