Are Tunes necessary with a CAI?

I have a 2008 F150 and would like to put on a CAI. After reading some threads on them however, I am still confused as to whether I can install one without having to get custom tunes. I am not partial to any brands, just one that will do its job. Just like others, if I have to buy custom tunes to be able to use a CAI, I guess I will say the heck with it and just buy a drop in. Please advise!!

I have an 07' with a 5.4 and am currently running an Air Force One intake with no tunes. I called Troyer Performance and asked the same question and they sold me the 3" intake. Troyer spent alot of time researching the lean issue and the only intake that worked without tunes was the AF1 with 3" intake tube. Now any other intakes that have a 3" intake or less would probably have the same result. I run this setup with a flowmaster exhaust and thats it. I don't lose a wink of sleep over it. My advice is go for it!!
