manifold problom?

ok my exhaust has been getting louder so i took my 97 f150 4.6 to the shop to have it looked at. the tek said it is a common for the stud that holeds the manifold and downpipe together to rust out. then said it would be 300 for him to fix it. he said i could use a C clamp instead and that should work.
any one deal with this kind of thing?

yea alot of them will rust out, but ive never heard that you can use a C clamp to fix it, i wouldnt advise that either, i would either pay the 300 for him to fix it or buy some shorties (if you have factory exhaust) and get put them on
