questions on CAI and running lean

I have an 04 supercrew, and i have a FIPK2 K&N and after reading on here i am worried about hurting my engine and running lean (even though i do not fully understand what running lean is). I was hoping someone could explain and clearify this issue for me because i love my truck just like everyone else. I just dont want to hurt my truck,
thanks

less fuel than stoiciometric....on your truck (04-up) you need a tune after a CAI

Your air intake will be fine....K&N kits arn't as radical as others and won"t lean you out. I have had the K&N 77 series intake on three seperate 04+ trucks with 0 issues. When you start to go with intakes that have a larger diameter of 3'' is when you run into lean condition problems These kits love the factory tune

i've seen plenty of 04's run lean without triggering cel-on strock intake-let alone an aftermarket- fyi

Afe Cai

I have an 04 and I felt the same way as you untill I went to a shop and had it checked out. It is running well within its specified range. It is noisy but i a have taken numerous trips towing my trailer and i enjoy the extra power.
i do find it curious that the minute you talk about running lean with a CAI everyone says you need to get a custom tune. Look for a good shop in your local area and have it checked and tuned if you like.
when i get back from my next trip I am going to have a dyno tune done.
I called superchip and they said it should be fine with a canned tune but i think i will still go with a dyno tune.

thanks sky, how much does a dyno run ya? and what exactly does it do? i dont know much tunning.. haha
but yeah everyone tries to promote the guys who took care of them, and i have no problem with being loyal to your guys but it can be overwhelming have 5 different guys telling you to go with different set ups from different guys
