Well I filled it up and reset the trip meter. Will post results.

My RPM's did get lower. I don't know why unless the engine is working less to maintain the speed. Don't really care come to think of it, it works. Not gonna screw with it. LOL

I coulda swore my rpm's went down before.
BUT here may be a reason why people are doubting yall...
It's all about the gearing, if you are not changing the gearing, going that same speed, the rpm will always be in the same place. As long as you have the same rear end and the same transmission, nothing you do will change that, BUT you may use less air/fuel to stay at that rpm, but the rpm will nevertheless be the same no matter what.

as efficiency improves, so will mpg. Its only obvious. If you open up exhaust and let air in easier with cai, your mpg will get better. Its debatable whether its will be noticable or not but some say yes and some say no. It all depends on driving habit too? I built a mustang w/ a 347 stroker and alluminum heads etc.... It ussually got 25mpg or so but with the built engine driving it nice it got 28mpg.

It's amazing how many people don't know how to accurately judge their milage, but will swear and be damned their F-150's are getting 18 and 24 MPG! Mine has an Airraid CAI, ASP U/D pullies, FAL E-Fans, Edge Evo set on stage 2, 5.4 and 3:73's If I keep my foot out of the pedal I can make it to 13 MPG and I think that is doing very well for these trucks!

Well, now thats just a stupid statement. You did all that and get 13MPG? That means you screwed something up unless that is what you were shooting for. Off the lot these trucks get better than 13MPG. I know how to judge my milage. I fill it up, note the gallons and then do the math with how many miles I get out of a tank; it's not rocket science. Do try to use some common sense.

I'd sure like to see one that really gets 13 average for all around driving right off the lot!

My '05 has the 5.4 with 3.73 gears and it is a 4 wheel drive.

We consistently get 13.2 to 13.6 in the winter, driving through snow and using 4x4 as needed.

In the summer, the mpg is better, averaging 14.5 up to 15+ (and better than that on a long road trip). Our mpg is also affected by who is driving. My Wife has a lead foot and is always in a hurry to get where ever she is going, so the mpg drops. I take it slow and easy and the mpg improves.

Driving style has more to do with mpg than just about anything else that you can do to your truck.

EPA Rating maybe. Real world they don't do better than that. Mine with a 5.4 is lucky to do 11 around town and 16 highway.

With the 4.6 you will see higher mileage but yours is unusually high. Sounds to me like you did intake and exhaust without a tune and you're running lean.

You guys with 4x4s will not get as good as the 4x2s. I have kept mileage records from March, 2005 when I bought my truck. I keep a spreadsheet that has every fillup, number of miles driven, brand of gas, and even notes if there was something different that took place during that tank.

Initially, I would get 17 running around the Fort Worth area, lots of stop and go. On the highway, running 75-85, I would get 19.2, going through small towns. My truck is a Screw, 5.4. 3.55 gears. I no longer get that due to two reasons. I lost about a mpg when they went to 10% ethanol and I lost some more when I went to the bigger tires and wheels. I now get around 15.1 in town and 17.4 to 17.6 on the highway.
