Flowmaster Question

Hello All,

I have a 2008 F-150 FX2 Sport, 4.6L truck. I recently went to the truck shop and got a quote on some Super 40 Flowmasters. I intended on getting true-duals,this included 2x Super 40 flowmasters, 3" custom bent piping, and chrome exhaust tips. It came out to something around $740. However, the mechanic at the place said for a Super 40 Flowmaster 1 IN 2 Out would be around $588, which is a whole lot quicker. He mentioned that there is not a huge difference in loudness by getting the true duals than the 1 in 2 out type. Im just curious on what yalls opinion is on the matter.

Thanks

In this situation, a single muffler will be louder, so if that's what you want then go with that but be careful about pipe diameter. Keep the single pipe diameter at 3" and you'll be fine. For the dual exhaust, 3" piping is WAY TOO BIG! Keep the piping at 2.25" per side and that's it... Buy an X-pipe, run it as close to the headers as possible and you'll be fine. Now get ready for an onslaught of posters telling you about how you should only run Magnaflows...lol Hope this helps

I have Flowmaster 40 series duals on my 07 King Ranch. Had them on my 00' F150, and my 98 Tahoe. They do nothing but create the sound that I was looking for. Guys will tell you they suck, and Magnaflow creates more HP. Magnaflow may give you a couple more ponies. Whatever...

$740.00 seems REALLY high!

2 40 series mufflers 230.00 Stainless tips 120.00 = 586.72 installed and welded.

I live around Dallas. Hope that helps save you some coin.

I have the si/do 40 on my truck and if you are looking for a loud sound thats not going to be it. Mine has been on there so long now its basically a straight pipe ,but for awhile don't expect too much with the si/do.

For all intents and purposes 1 FM 40 series will be louder than 2 - Is it worth the extra $150, that's completely up to you. You can get the complete Flowmaster system which is a SI/DO designed specifically for your truck for around $500 - Keep that in mind when shopping around prices

Just save up for a custom tuned Xcal2 and an air intake like the S&B or AF1 3.0".

unfortunately in this situation, "old school" is more reliable than "new school."

One of my best friends at school, who i live with, has an xcal3 for his F150, i have an xcal2. He paid like 450 for custom tunes+xcal3. i paid 300. He had issues with xcal3. My used xcal2 has been flawless.

Thats what i base it off of.
