Volant CAI and Maggie Exhaust...worth it w/o a tune?

i know i kinda talked about this in a few other threads but thought i would just bring all my questions together and hope someone could help me out...

i might have a chance to get a slightly used volant CAI for fairly cheap, and have seen that a few people here have them on their newer model f150s, but not many people are running them on the '97-'03 models. Along with this, i will need to replace my stock muffler in the near future, and will probably put a magnaflow 18" or 14" SI/DO in its place. With that being said..will this combination be worth it if i have the stock tune? Or would a good drop in filter be better for me? I'd hate to go out and buy both, only to loose HP and MPG because i couldn't get a custom tune to make the most of the extra air flow. And, those of you with volant CAI w/o any tunes, how do you like it? I've heard sometimes you can get a sound like somethings loose, and others say theres a real bad drone in the cab. Have you seen any increase in HP or MPG?

sorry if i repeated myself from other posts, just thought it might be easier to get all my ideas together in one thread. Thanks for any help in advance though

Cody
