4.6 which magnaflow muffler for custom?

Ok, I did my lift and put my 37's on and my tail pipe looks like it should be on a VW not a truck. I'm going down to the muffler shop today to check prices on getting a magnaflow welded in and a chunk of 4" pipe added in place of the last foot or so of the stock pipe to serve as a tip.

I've searched and read through alot of posts here and I'm thinking the 14" long muffler for sound but what size oval (ie 4x9 or 5x11, etc). I've also toyed with running 3" pipe back from the muffler so it doesn't look to goofy goin from 2.5" pipe to a 4" tip. My truck sits up high enough its pretty visable. It will exit at the stock location.

Since I have the 4.6 I refuse to lose any bottom end and am not really looking for more performance, just lookin for more sound and to cure this exhaust tip problem. Everytime I post this pic the small exhaust is the first thing people mention:

Just got back from the local muffler shop. 3" back from the Y, 18" magnaflow, 3" back to a single 3.5" tip out the side. $250 out the door. Couldn't argue with that so its sittin up there, should have it back tomorrow night. Can't wait, no more pea shooter exhaust

i have the 14" oval on my 4.6L and it sounds great, it has a slight drone around 2000 or so rpm but you learn to stay out of it. its silent when cruising and it makes a great rumble when you get on it

Right on, I was thinking about getting the 14", but the dood at the shop suggested the 22". I figured I'd go in the middle and do the 18". With the 3" pipe I didn't want it to be too loud or lose too much backpressure.

Just picked the truck up. Sounds great! Glad I went with the 18" instead of the 14". It makes just enough noise, anymore would be too much for my taste. The 3.5" slash cut tip looks alot more appropriate than the 2.5 exhaust as well. Even if my truck is slow atleast it sounds like it might have some power now

if anyone ever gives you crap for being slow, simply tell him "your truck may go fast, but my truck can go anywhere."

haha, its actually not bad I just like to joke about it. Some people want a race truck, I just want something that will move me and some stuff where I want it to go, and for that it does good.
