straight pipe with backflow?

right now i have the stock exhaust on a 4.2L. the exhaust diameter for the pipes is 2.5" (i think) what i was wondering is if instead of using the same 2.5" pipe in placxe of the stock muffler, what if u took it down to say 2" just in that spot? would that create backflow for the engine? or would i be better off just putting a glasspack or something in there.

thanks

put a dynomax muffler in its place. If you want loud, go with their bullet race muffler, it will be damn loud and keep all your torque.

Doing so would "bottleneck" the exhaust... Not good. Throw on a straight-through muffler and call it good.
