heat sheilds

heat sheilds

I have muy heats sheilds on the driver side on the cats are so rusted that I welded them once the weld keeps breaking if remove the heat sheilds will this hurt anything? if not why are they even on there? Thanksfor any help.

I personally wouldn't remove the heat shield unless you can replace it with a new one. Heat shields do just as their description and are important or they wouldn't be there. If there are any electrical components or wiring near the exhaust then the heat shield definitely protects these.

I lost the heat shields on my ranger and I always got complaints from passengers from how hot the floor board got even with all the padding and carpet. You might just wanna replace the cats.
