Cut muffler

I cut the muffler off, which was a flomaster 40, to see how it sounds. Actually not bad! But i need a deeper tone so i might put the flow back on.

My only thing is that it isnt really loud at all with all the cats and a side exit in front of rear passneger tire.

How to make louder but still have a deep sound. Oh and i am not going to drop 400 dolars on exhaust.

Please help.

I was surprised that it sounded somewhat decent when I cut my muffler off to install my exhaust this passed weekend. Better then I thought it would.

Get two high flow cats and dump the stock 4 and have pipe bent up to fill in the gaps. You're still going to have to drop some coin on it but it won't be $400. You could add to that with a Dynomax Bullet muffler. It's about as straight through as you're going to get and they go really cheap on Summit. Then just dump it.

In most cases you get what you pay for. You can also keep your cats and take them to a scrap yard and sell them. Theres exotic metal in them that gets the right people good money. I got $50 for all four of mine today but could have easily gotten more. I was offered $40 and told the guy for $50 I'd leave without them. He jumped on it pretty quick.

New setup

went back to the muffler shop had them cut the y pipe and run true duels that dumped out in front of the axle. Sounds sweet, i might look into some dynomax bullets for more of a deep sound.

Obviously you care more about sound than you do performance. Doing the exhaust up this way is cheap and you may get the sound your after , but your killing your torque- eliminating a good portion of it. Shoot , you were prolly use to not having much performance anyway . I mean you were running a 40 Flowbastid before.

You could have sound and performance if you wanted it. Just ask , there's plenty of guys around here that can set you up right.

Power

There was absolutly no seat of my pants power loss. And if i wanted to dump 600 on exhuast i would have. But you can have 2-3 more ft-lbs of tq, for 550 more then what i paid.

Sounds good and to me no real power loss.
