Exhaust ?

I have a 2006 F150 FX4 SCREW with 5.4. I went to muffler shop to talk about running true duals and they told me there are no advantage to running true duals over a cat back system, performance or sound wise. Is this true? All they have in stock is flowmaster but he said he could make me a cat-back system with any muffler I wanted. I want to run 2 pipes out behind passenger rear tire.I am not looking for it to be loud more interested in good tone and performance gains .I ex specially do not want it loud in the cab just want it to sound like it has a V8 in it. What are the muffler suggestion for making your own cat-back system it does not have to be shiny I like the stock look. After reading this board I'm leaning towards magnaflow but any suggestions and where to buy will be appreciated.

a SI/DO dynomax or magnaflow with two tips out lightning style should be perfect. Order the muffler and tips online and take it to your guy, he'll well it up for you.

Well, after looing at the chart posted on this forum and seeing the low end the Borla XS produced over the Magnaflow, I'd lean more towards that. I wish they had a 3" SISO center/center muffler in the Borla XS. But for what you're looking for, dual tips out the side behind the tire, the Borla XS 3"SI/2.5"DO would be perfect. It is expensive though.

I just bought my si/so Magnaflow from hotexhaust .com , best price I could find , and they have free shipping too. My local exhaust shop installed it for $50.00 It has a great deep sound out the back, and inside I can't tell any difference.

Thanks guys. I like the Borla but it is a little to expensive. I plan on saving for the CAI and SCT X3 after the exhaust so I'm trying to get out as cheap as possible so I guess I have decided on the Magnaflow SI/DO but what size the kits use 22" I think but what size inlet/outlets do I need to use for best performance? Does anyone have a part # for this muffler in the aluminized and the stainless and is the stainless worth the extra money? Where I live we don't have alot of bad weather and the truck is garage kept. I had my last truck for 10 years and changed the muffler once and that was to put the flowmasters on it and never had to replace tailpipes or anything for rust so is the stainless worth the price difference?

I also got there headers too.... so yeah go with Banks not Mangaflow or flowmaster or etc... the suck gas and they have that annoying interior sound. Banks delivers rich, throaty exhaust and with the header I got damn great rumble sound.

LOL puhhlllease give me a chart with gas mileage comparisons from a Banks catback vs a maggy catbak vs a flowmaster catback. This ought to be good!

I can barely hear the maggy on my friends f150, it sounds nearly like stock when cruising or idling...

Well the kit is a 16614. The muffler in this kit is a 5x8x18" Muffler and its 3" off the cat and 2.5" Out on the duals.
