Need advice again
I posted about a week ago about my plans for my exhaust setup. Well after talking with the guy who is going to do the exhaust he suggested something different. He was trying to save me some more money.
My truck: 97 f150 5.4
His suggestion for an exhaust setup:
2.5 pipe
Hollow out the cats
Put a hooker muffler on it (he suggested hooker).
4" tips swept before the tire
How would this sound on my truck?
What kind of muffler would be best for this setup?

Is this a shop doing the install or just a guy you know? Hard to believe a shop would suggest hollowing out the cats. If you hollow out the cats you're going to have you check engine light come on. If this is a shop, any chance Hooker is the brand they sell?
I went back and looked at your plans before and I liked those better. With the 2.25 inch pipe. A few people have already complained about the loss of low end torque with 2.50 inch pipe. I'm actually a fan of a 3" SISO but if you're set on duals that's the way to go. The muffler all depends on the sound you want. Magnaflow's flow good though. If you want it loud, get something with a smaller case like the Magnaflow 14 inch muffler. If you want it quieter, get something like the Magnaflow 22" case. Those are jsut examples. Bigger the case, quiter the exhaust and vice versa. Also, the tips exiting before the tires may cause your wheels to get a bit dirty. This may be minor, but it's something to think about.
What ever you do, make sure it's what YOU want in the end. Even if you have to spend a bit more money, you only want to do this once.

The guy suggested the hollowed cats because he has camaro with hollowed cats and flowmasters and he likes it. And my exhaust is already swept before the tire because it is a 97 and the wheel is dirty. I probably will go out the back then.
