dumped pipe diameter

I am going in to have the shop run a pipe from the Y-pipe dumped straight pipe (no muffler) over the axle. Should I use 2.5 or 3". The existing pipe is 2.5 I think and the smaller pipe should help keep some low end torque right? Also will there be a sound difference between the 2.5 and 3"? We are only really looking about about 5 ft. pipe here anyways.

Thanks

you're already killin the bottom end with no muffler-going from 2.5 to 3 can't possibly make it any worse
