I know you've been watching Pimp Rohr's posts on this, but I tracked this down as far as what he said about hp gains...

"I saw about a 3-7 increase as I go closer to the curve. Above 3450 is where we saw the most increase vs. the stocker."

I know he said only about a 2ft/lbs increase, but again that's at it's peak.

I'm e-mailing Pimp to see if he can give us a little more detail into his seat of the pants dyno to see what he thinks....also what mods he has.

Here's what sold me on this exhaust:

yep i saw and read all that. i've been going back and forth between pimp's and mgp's videos. they both sound good, but the videos of the mbrp i've found on youtube don't sound as good as the corsa at WOT.

the other thing is the power. i don't care if it's the best sounding exhaust system in the world. it's got to do better than 2ftlbs across the board if i'm going to spend money on it. ideally, i'd like to see some tq down low *** i'm not racing from stop light to stop light.

Yeah I saw those vids on YouTube as well. Those definitely didn't sound like PimpRohr's vid too much. Something to consider with those.....I think all of those systems were the SI/DO rear exit exhaust systems which have the 3" piping. Pimp has the SI/SO 3.5".....I'm not sure if that is going to make a difference in the sound.

I'm still not sure if I'm going to send my MBRP exhaust back when I get it Wednesday. I might have to step up to the plate and just get the Corsa, but I'm waiting to get a response back from Pimp.

I got an e-mail back from Pimp (hopefully he doesn't mind me posting this):

"I did not have my truck dyno tuned, nor do I still, as the Edge does a very good job at keeping things all within the factory parameters of tuning. I have tuned vehicles myself for years, 99% of them on the dyno. The Ford is the first one that really hasn’t needed a custom tune that takes FULL potential of what was left out from the factory, the Edge does a very good job of that.

My truck saw no significant decrease below 1500 (under the curve) with the exhaust, so I would have to say, no, I did not lose any low RPM tq. What I did notice was a throatier exhaust note, better throttle response with my Edge, and no drone at Highway speeds. That enough was a winner for me.

Mods to date:

AEM Brute Force Intake

Edge Level 3

MBRP Exhaust

4:56 Gears"

I think I'll stick it out with the MBRP...just to be a little bit different from the crowd as well.

they must know something we don't. it's designed for a stock truck i'd guess, but it still seems big. a member over in the 04+ forum has one and says he loves it. said something about no losses across the board, but didn't provide any substantiating info either.
Thats a diesel setup
my SIDSO MBRP is 2.5

Yeah I think Pimp is right on this one...every website has this part listed as 3.5" and the duals listed as 3".

If you want gains across the board then this is the kit you want. It's been dyno tested to prove positive torque gains everywhere. Being different isn't worth sacrificing power in my opinion. Be smart. You don't want to regret it later.

I don't know the numbers. I trust Troyer did his homework. You'll find a lot of people complain about true duals losing low end torque. Some say single 3" systems lose low end torque. I've seen people say their SIDOs lose low end torque. This system is proven to gain torque EVERYWHERE. Even if it doesn't net the highest peak gain, it doesn't lose power anywhere which to me, is most important.

i wish people and/or companies would substantiate their products with numbers. how many cat backs are available and how many people have cat backs on their trucks that don't know if it gave them 2 or 20hp. i want to know where my $400 is going.

In an ideal world...

Even still, the companies that do provide numbers, usually provide peak numbers or don't show the graphs or explain in detail WHERE the power was gained. This is particularly important in trucks, especially those that tow. A lot of good 20 HP does in a truck if you only see it above 3500 rpm where you do very little of your driving. Or even better, I'll pick on JBA here for a second. They advertise their headers and show gains of *insert number here* HP but they only test it with 2 or 3 of their other products, still not telling you how much the headers gained.

I guess that's the *****ty thing about the MBRP exhaust....I've really only seen two people comment on its performance. One person said he loved the sound, but it felt like he lost some power. He said it seems like he had to floor it more to pass people.

Pimp said that he didn't lose any torque but gained 2ft/lbs and gained 16 peak hp. He also said he gained anywhere from 3-7hp down low. There's just not a lot of data out there on this system....
