flowmaster

Hey i have a 2004 5.4l V8 f150 with flowmasters and i want it louder and thinkin of goin with straight pipe. Would all i have to do is cut the muffler out and then i have straight pipes or would i need new tail pipes and all that stuff. I just want it loud without spending alot of money and removing cats is illegal in Florida i think.

Try dumping it after the muffler. What series Flowmaster muffler do you have on it? Welcome to F150online

Just cut them out and add a piece of pipe where they were.

Yep, that oughta be loud enough to prevent conversation or even thinking..

At some point being able to hear the voices in your head becomes more valuable than waking the neighbors, being the loudest.

I'd be interested in hearing a soundclip too.

Also interested in hearing how long it takes for you be sick of the noise, the constant droning.. LOL

Hey hunter, I should have said Welcome to the site before anything else!

The Edge won't make any difference in the sound but it'll sure make a difference as far as performance. I think you'd be pretty happy with the difference..

As far as your exhuast, until you've tried living with a car or truck with no muffler / dumped / "as loud as I can make it", yeah it's gonna sound sweet to ya, and everyone outside the cab who hears it. It'll always sound sweet to anyone who isn't in the cab.

But trust me, INSIDE the cab there's gonna be constant noise. Drone is a good word to describe it. Not being able to hear yourself think is also a good description.. LOL..

If all ya want is loud for loud's sake then by all means no muffler at all is the way to go. It's just hard to live with for a daily driver.

lol with my flowmasters theres a certain rpm when its the loudest and i try to keep it up at that rpm at all times so i can acually hear it at any other times i can barely hear it. ima get the edge next then probably get a air intake then be done haha. But when i get it ill make some sound clips with my cell phone but it probably wont be that good. Hopefully my dad doesnt get pissed im not gunna tell him cause he will probably say its loud enough . But oh well hopefully he wont notice if he does ill say atleast i cant sneak out the house unless i push the damn thing down the street.

go with true dual straight pipes, it will sound a whole lot better than puttin a pipe in place of the muffler

I agree, I had a y pipe like you are thinking about getting then I switched to true duel straight pipes and it was about twice as loud as the y pipe setup. GO WITH THE TRUE DUELS!!
