Drones?

I was reading some posts in reguards to looking for an intake system for my truck. some noted that their intakes drone. Can anyone explain what they mean by drone. Does that mean it sounds like a honda civic with and intake?

no. it just means that they will make a rumbling or humming noise sometimes. its nothing to keep you from buying one. it just makes the whole truck sound better. ive got an AF1 intake and i love it. its got a nice growl when you get on it

i would go AF1 or S&B. where do you live? cause if there is alot of dust in your area you will want the S&B because its closed. I personally have the AF1 and couldnt be happier.

With intakes and drone, a lot of it has to do with the engine tuning as well.

I have a K&N FIPK2 (57 series) intake.

On the stock tune, it sounded good, not too loud but you could really hear it on harder acceleration.

With the Edge programmer, it droned HORRIBLY. It sounded terrible, especially when downshifting on the highway. It sounded like my engine wanted to just quit sometimes. The drone was unbearable.

On my Troyer custom tunes, it simply just roars. Sounds amazing and performs great.
