Exclamation 03' headers on 06 4.6... no bueno

After weeks of hopes and dreams... and 6 hrs of dissassmbly... i regret to inform every one that you cannot make ANY long tube header fit the new 4.6... they fit he head perfectly, the collectors end up in the perfect place under the cab... but the placementof the bracket and motor mount on the new body is in the wrong damn place....

anyway, i have a set of NEW pacesetter long tubes for any 99-03 with a 5.4 or a 4.6, the only thing missing is one gasket... i just paid 293 for these from summit about a week ago, if someone in local SoCal near Los Angeles wants them, you can take them off my hands for $175 and i'll even deliver them as long as your within 40mi or so of Los Angeles... let me know

That sucks ! I posted a pic for yuh , last week sometime I think? With the motor mount, frame location on the passenger side. So there that much different ehh - Did you call them by chance ? - The warehouse (I think it's in Arizona) may refund you and charge you just a re-stocking fee. I don't believe they come from Summit . Summit's the middle man. Look on the outside of the box. - I sent there offroad pipe back when it didn't fit right...

Why are you selling so cheap ?

Do you have any pics of the motor mount location? The Pace Setters are steel - makes them easier to modify. It depends how much you need to do in order to make it happen.

Hows the drivers side ? Same deal? I know some of the 4six guys were able to modify the kooks by cutting one or two pipes on the older models - then turn them inward and re-weld.

I bet theres a way..

i didnt take apart the pass side... but it looks to be the same problem...
there is literaly about 1/2" of clearance between the stock manifold and the mount/bracket. and on the headers the 1st and 2nd runners on both sides end up right in the middle of those brackets/mounts. thats why when you look at the shorties for these trucks, all the runners run UP, then to the back of the engine compartment, then down to the collectors, i thought i'd have to modify them a little, you know, hammer here for clearance, cut and re-weld to get around... but all in all, you'd have to completly make a new set. there's a guy out here in el monte that will custom make a set of long tubes but it's going to cost between 1600-1800.... for mild steel...
i'll take some pics of the mounts when i get a chance to put it on the hoist again. thanks
