True Dual on 5.4l problems

I just installed a true dual exhaust on my 5.4l f150, the mufflers are 2 flowmaster super 40s....the problem is that it is incredible quiet and mellow, not exactly what i remember the 40s to be so any ideas why that is?

That is because they are super 40's. The original 40 is a different muffler.

That's true but i was under the influence that the super 40 was supposed to be even more aggressive sounding than the original. I don't know a whole lot about it but could the quietness of the exhaust be due to the fact that only half the exhaust is running through each muffler? Could it be that there just isn't enough exhaust flow through each one to make it loud. If so what do you recommend? Should i delete one muffler and just have it all run through one? Or maybe add an H-Pipe?

True duals will be louder than anything else out there (cat-back, single in/dual out muffler, ect.). Do not add a crossover as it will quiet up the exhaust.

Delete BOTH mufflers and run true dual straight pipes. I love the sound of mine!

Here's a few sound clips of my true dual setup with 2 SISO flowmaster 40s... How does it sound compared to yours?

The super 40's are suppose to be a little quieter then the original 40's but deeper sounding. Also remember that they have to break in and will get louder. Also I plan on adding high flow cats to my setup once tax money gets here.gonna buy a welder and some cats and see if I can get it louder yet.

Give it some time, the more miles you put on it the louder the muffler will get.....not saying it will be super loud but will be louder...so be patient my friend.

Good god....see my exhaust sounds nothing like that. I mean i can literally not hear it if there is any other noise going on around me or if i'm more than several feet away. It is very quiet.

Just an FYI about crossovers (H or X), they do quiet down the exhaust tone, or get rid of some of the harshness of the sound, but they will almost always add HP and TQ. I have never brought a motor to the dyno and NOT seen a measurable increase and HP and torque by having the exhaust cross at some point. Just something to think about...

Remove the cats and it will sure make the truck louder. I removed mine and added a 18" magnaflow. Its too loud for my liking. I'm adding a x crossover and another magnaflow muffler to quiet it down alittle.

STRAIGHT PIPES!!!!!!!!!!! Just did mine today (read my thread) I had flow 40 series dumped prior took that crap off and went single straight pipe exit in front of rear tire with 4" tip! Never heard a better sounding exhaust on a truck. The only thing I could think of better would be mudterrains duals.
