Intake VS. Headers???

Ok well i tried posting in general discussion but didnt get any reply so I will try here. I am planning on buying a Volant cold air intake with a Mass airflow sensor and throttle body from Jet. Or some OBX headers with the long tubes and without the cats but in order to do that I am going to have to get a x3 custom tune from Troyer also so the truck will run right. So my question is which setup should I get first because I cant afford it all at once? I know that a engine is a pump and to get more out of it you have to let it breath, "in and out", I already have strait pipes out the side so I am thinking I should lean towards the intake setup first. Tell me what you would do.

I cant get the tune first because I am going to have them turn the o2 sensors of and have it set for the exhaust and intake and all.

Why do you base that statement on? Nothing in the sites advertising them say you have to get a tune. Jet even says its compatible with cold air intakes and/or stock.

Dude, you'd be well advised to listen to what built54 has to say before any "advertisements".

Yeah, I know, advertisements never lie... neverthe****ingless..

Listen when built talks..

I didnt say advertisements never lie but I would like to see what he has to support what he is saying. If i listen to him blindly wouldnt I be doing the same thing as listening to advertisements blindly? Come on man.

Understood..

And I'm pretty sure that he'll post more info about why he said what he did than most of us can understand.

That guy is one of the best resources on this site for anything to do with F150's.

That's all I meant, that if built says you should tune and upgrade the MAF first then that's probably the way to go.

No offense, I'd just not trust anything in any advertisement.

built54 has done just about every mod to his truck, the reason he said you need a tune with the MAF because it will make your truck run lean = blown engine (and not the good blown either)

i too vote for the exhaust first, when you get your intake and MAF and your troyer tunes upgrade to #24 injectors all at once to make your effort worthwhile
