help removing cats

I have magnaflow mufflers on my truck, do not know what kind b/c I bought the truck that way. They are tipped, back exit. I've read a few forums talking about removing two of the four cats. Is that legal in TX, if so, how do you do it? Will it make my truck louder?

i dont believe removing the cats is legal anywhere. but, who cares, as long as you dont have state inspections, AR doesn't. i had my 2 rear cats removed and it makes a big difference. if you're worried about the legal side of it, then just order some high flow cats off of ebay and have a shop weld em on.

Up here in Wisconsin, many muffler shops are weary about replacing cats. I guess there is a huge fine for taking cats off if they still work ($25K).

If you are going to remove two cats you might as well take them all of because the two front cats won't get through it inspection and all they will do is restrict airflow

If you have state inspection, use high flow cats. If not, cut all of them off.
