Exhaust tip ?s

Right now I have a ss maggie tip on it that has been on for a little over a year. I try and keep it clean but especially after this winter it's getting all fubar-ed. I really like the look of it, but I'm tired of cleaining it up. Any suggestions on what to do?

1. Clean it up again... and again...
2. Buy mud flaps
3. Dump exhaust (althouth this would be my last choice)
4. Get new tip every year
5. Someone here had painted (?) their tip black... I have searched and have not found the person/post. I think this would look schweeeet but I cannot find the info. Maybe this would be best? I'm entertaining this idea as best.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you ever used "Neverdull". This stuff works real well on exhaust tips even if they're super nasty.

Eagle one doesn't work that great imho.

And as far as the neverdull, a coworker also suggested this. I'll have to give it a try.

Anyone still know/remember the link for the painted tip? Thanks

is it a chromey or a stainless polished?

chrome shouldnt be hard to keep clean so i imagine its a polished piece.
If your having trouble keeping it nice and polished, do the following.
Polish it out, do a really nice job, take yoru time with it.
Once done, clear coat it. it will stay shiny and clean up as easily as your truck.

As far as painting, it shouldnt be that hard. You dont really need a thread to show you how to do that do you? Or is it pics you desire?

SS and yeah, I was looking for the pics. I'll wait until all this snow goes away and try that idea of the clearcoat. Never really thought of that Guess that's why we come here - thanks!

you can also use the very fine steel wool with warm soap and water. it always works for me. do it lightly then polish afterwards.

I had an old hunt truck that I rolled the muffler with the roll on bedliner stuff. Looked pretty sweet. Not sure about the long term effects with the heat, but we never really drove it more than a quarter mile at a time.

What do you use to clear coat them?

any good automotive clear.

Just take it to a body shop and have them clear it with whatever clear they have handy next time they shoot. Shouldnt cost very much for a tip.

Dont use the cheapo krylon clear from walmart though.
Spray can clear usually wont stand up to the elements as well as a properly mixed clear coat.

My tips get really dirty too! I can never get the crap off them. I have been thinking about dumping my exhaust but I want to make sure that I have it right.I have a dynomax bullet with split rear exit right now. I just want to make sure that the exhaust gases would be ok under the bed, plus I would need to buy two turn downs. I'm not sure what I want to do yet but the exhaust just isn't as loud as I want it.
