Need Advice on HEADERS

i need some advice here. i want to get some headers to increase power and gas mileage but i dont know which one to buy.

most long tube headers are out of my price range except pacesetters which are said to suck **** so i dont want those.

most shorties out there are in my relative price range and seem easier to install into an exhaust setup since ill be doing that myself.

even though i know long tubes will produce more gains im thinkin im gunna have to go with a shorty unless i can find a cheaper long tube out there.

also im thinking about throwing on the magnaflow 2 cat/mid pipe behind whatever headers i buy http://rpmoutlet.com/lightbassani2cat.htm#2 (its the one below the bassani)

so i have a few questions....

1. is there a long tube out there under 600 that will last?

2. what brand shorty header will give me the most gains?

3. what header is easiest to install?

dont even bother wasting money on shorties... they are nothing but a waste of money, that is it.

no I dont, but you should believe me as i've had 2 sets of shorties, and 1 set of long tubes. there is a book that tests all kinds of things for our engines, they showed a 2-3hp gain i believe for shorties, but that was on a 350+hp engine... seriously, save your money on the headers and just buy high flow cats

listen to the man, he's right. Shorties will gain you nothing, just save up your money man. No point in wasting money away for loud noise and no power.

the edge wont know you have headers, should be ok, but a custom tune would be better so you can delay the from o2 readings since they will be about a foot further down the stream.

rough idle, may stumble when you first hit the gas.
