Need some advice and Fast re: Roush cat back options!
Ok, This is going to sound weird....but here goes.... I just bought a new 2007 4.6 4x2 today where the dealer had installed a roush cat back dual system. The problem is that it is too damn loud....I love the look of the dual straight pipes out the back, but it is too loud.... especially when you are lumbering along at 30 mph. The dealer will restore the stock system next week, but i am hoping before then I can come up with a compromise play.... I would be happy if we could just swap out the muffler components and keep the dual look and keep the dual tips, but get a more civilized sound..... is there such a thing that is far more quiet?..... Thanks, Doodle
Wow, That was fast! thanks... No I don't know, i'll check it out in the am, but based on the sound I bet it is the off road one..... it is very loud... sounds awesome at idle and a little rev, but very loud at cruise under a little load.... climb a hill and people know it..... how can I tell by looking at them?

I've got a Borla SI/SO and it sounds sweet, nice growl/rumble but no drone when cruising at any speed. It freakin' howls like a nascar at WOT though.. LOL..
look under your truck. If it is a 10" muffler, you have the roush off road. If it is a larger muffler, you have the roush legal system.
If they just do a muffler swap, KEEP THE ROUSH MUFFLER. Ill buy it from you.

Hey, thanks for all the info. I checked under the truck and it is a 10 inch muffler, so it must be the off road version. how much quieter is the street version? And MsaLL150 - ok, if I can keep the old one, then I'll sell it to you.....dave

How long did you drive with the Roush Off-Road exhaust? Did you drive it or just hear it on the lot? I can't believe anyone would say this drones. When you accelerate, you can hear it. If you have your foot off the accelerator, there is no way you can even hear it, let alone say it drones. And on the interstate, there is no sound during torque convertor lock-up.

Anyway, after having driven it for a few days all my guy friends are saying "cool"..... all their wifes say I am having a mid life crisis.... I would like to maybe change it to the street legal version.... does anyone know how much quieter the street version is?
you could also have them swap in a larger SI/DO magnaflow muffler. Magnaflows are generally pretty quite mufflers, and still give you a little performance. It'll sound nice at atartup and idle, but not loud. I dont think they drone either.
The amount of soudn you get is all about muffler size. The smaller the muffler, the louder it is. You have a 10" muffler right now, which is tiny. Maybe swap it for a 18" or 24" magnaflow, it might fit your tastes a little better.
