Yeah! Xmas Gift

So my dad bought me for christmas a new muffler for my truck. He paid for it to be a si/do, with tips. So I have a lifted 03 scab v6 4.2, Now I'm wondering which muffler should I get, he said just choose one. I have heard IMCO is good for a v6, but my dad said the guy at the muffler shop recommended a magnaflow or flowmaster over it, he didnt recommend imco.

Also, what do you think would look best, exiting strait out the back, side exit on each side, or like dual side exit?

Thanks

go with them straight out the back.

if your lifted, your beefy lugged tires will toss rocks and mudd at your tips if they are at a 45 degree angle out the back.

Or, if you want it to be louder inside the cab, have the tip(s) exit in front of the rear tire.

Yea my SS tips get so much crap thrown on them from the KM2's they are dirty in no time! I don't mind cleaning them but there are just way to many people that run them straight out the back I needed to be different

Good Point on where to run them out of. I think I will do strait out of the back.

What muffler do you suggest for a v6, magnaflow or flowmaster?

My last truck was a v6, I put a 18" Magnaflow. It had a nice rumble at idol and didn't sound ricey when revved up.

Magnaflow is the only way to go for a V6. They don't sound bad at all, unlike the Flowmaster's. My last truck I had the tips angled out. This truck they're going straight out the back. Tires of always having dirty exhaust tips.

Just another vote for magnaflow
Have one on my F150-5.4 V8 sounds awsome
Had one on my 4.0 V6 ranger and it sounded awsome as well

So the general consensus for a v6 is magnaflow over flowmaster, anyone here had a flowmaster with a v6 and a magnaflow? I'm wondering which you like better?

I had a 4.0 Ranger with a flowmaster 40 and it sounded really good. Not real loud but a great rumble at idle and WOT.

I have had both flowmaster and cherry bomb extreme (aka imco). My old set up was a flowmaster si/do 50 series, and i now have the cherry bomb extreme si/do lighting style exit. The extreme sounds much deeper and a lot better IMO.

Andrew. Check this sit out v6f150.com It has alot of muffle sound clips on the v6 150. Alot of people on that site are using the imco extreme (aka) cherry bomb. I have a fake flowmaster 40 on my truck si/so. It sound good at idle and not crazy load at wot. I will be adding a 3 1/2 magnaflow 18 inch long tip out the stock location. Maybe it will be a little loader. Good luck Ben
