I'd like to get an exhaust system for my 06 F150 Fx4. When you get a system that converts stock to a dual exhaust system, do you also need to get a chip or an intake airfilter to balance the system?

Or can you just get the exhaust and bolt it on, let the stock computer take the necessary actions to the new airflow...

bolt on the exhaust, chips, intakes and the like only enhance what the exhaust can do. and the exhaust only enhances what the others can do. But by all means you can certainly do one with out the other if you so desire. But in my opinion exaust is a great first step!

have fun modding!

thanks, I found one I like on ebay, has a flowmaster muffler, looks like it takes the stock single tube and out of the muffler is the dual exhaust. Is t his a good model or should I look for a true dual exhaust?

You won't be disappointed with a Magnaflow! Flowmasters have decent sound, but you will lose your low end torque. A 14 inch Magnaflow sounds better and out performs a 40 Series Flowmaster. The Magnaflow mufflers also have a si/do configuration to give you the dual exhaust look. I have a si/do config and it sounds great!

i personally like the flowmaster

you will find people swear by both flowmaster and magnaflow, both are excellent in my opnion,

magnaflow will more than likely outlast a flowmaster & the sounds are just a bit different

other than that, there isnt really any significant performace difference that i can tell, others will tell you different,

just my 2 cents.
