Question Cold air intake?

I want to put a cold air intake on my truck, but am not sure if it is really worth it, I was hoping someone had some insight as to how much it might help, and if it is worth it, which brands would be best?

AF1 seems to be the best bet, but I would get a tuner first for the most performance gains.

Definitely get a tuner first. Do your homework before purchasing a tuner or a CAI.

I just put an AEM BruteForce in my 2004 F150 FX4 (5.4l V8). It took about 45 minutes to install. I have no lean codes being thrown either. Overall, I'm impressed with the sound it makes, and the increased throttle response (not sure about the power, haven't had time to take it out and play yet!).

I like the dry filters better than the oiled filters personally.

yeah ,i would say, get a tuner first , the Edge evolution gives you up to 35 hp gain , and its easy to use if you dont like messing with custome tuning options ....
Now If you dont want to get a tuner yet and just want an intake , i would say check out Volant ,as i had a chance to compare it with others and it worked better for me , i have an 06 screw 5.4 with edge never had a problem , let us know how does it work for you

A true and efficient cold air system will increase HP 1% for each 10 degree decrease in air intake temp. As to what you may feel In stoplight to stoplight driving, its problematic. A few years back I conducted a real test at the strip using my low 12's '56 Chevy. Long story short, the CA system shaved 1 1/2 tenths off my 1/4 mile ET. While that's pretty impressive, especially considering it cost me $100.00 or so, the reality is that it isn't really noticeable in normal driving.

One caveat to the above...if the intake installed introduces cold air AND eliminates significant intake restriction, the HP gains will be greater.

BTW, the above formula was developed by GM engineers in the late 1960's.
