Magnaflow 16612 Exhaust System - Any Good

I'm looking to install the Magnaflow si/so to replace my stock system. Is it worth it or should I be looking at another brand. I would like to get a better exhaust note but not at the cost of a bad drone inside the cab and a power loss is not an option.

Thanks,

I was looking at that system and the Borla 140136. I went with the Borla but I don't think you can go wrong with that Magnaflow cat-back either, it's a damn good system!

You won't have any power loss with the Magnaflow, probably pick up a few hp and a little mpg too.

"Drone" is a term that seems to be relative depending on who's complaining about it. I don't want any constant noise in the cab when cruising, but if I'm on the gas I do want to hear the engine / exhaust. Otherwise, why bother changing from stock?

I don't think you'll have any droning with the Magnaflow, just cool sounds..

I have a new 07 F150 5.4 and I installed a maggie 5x8x18 si/so in place of my stock muffler. I have all the factory pipe, just cut out the old one and welded it in. This size is quiet at idle you can barely hear it when you are standing at the back of the truck. Under acceleration is sounds great and while you are at highway speed you can hear but again it is just a bit above stock. Perfect for a family vehicle but I dont think it would be the sound a single/young guy is looking for...if that helps. I wanted the performance increase but not an obnoxious vehicle.

Thanks,
I have this same system, zero drone. I just wish it was a little louder. Cant really complain, I have taken two 15 hr road trips with the wife and kids and the exhaust was quiet inside.

Drone commonly occurs whenever an upgrade is done to a vehicle’s exhaust system. Typically increasing pipe diameter and the use of a performance muffler will cause this. Also the use of intakes, header, high flow converters and programmers will contribute to drone. Any modification that change exhaust gas velocity will increase the level of sound the system produces inside and outside the vehicle. You can reduce drone by upgrading to a larger muffler or adding an additional muffler or resonator. This will not impact the vehicles performance but will help quiet it down.
