Fake flomaster?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was able to get a good deal on a fake flowmaster exhaust. It was put on with the stock pipes. This is on my F150 99 4.2. The question is what can I do to this exhaust to make it sound deeper? I dont want to loose back presure to the motor. I would like to know what the differnce are between these set ups. 1. Put a 3 inch tip right at the end of the exhaust under the truck? 2. Run a st8t pipe out the rear of the truck with a 3 inch tip? 3. Keep the stock pipe the way it is now stock with a 3 inch tip. Thanks Ben

why put a tip under the truck? Just run the stock pipe and put a tip on it, no need to worry about backpressure.

run a 3" pipe into a si/do muffler ( 2.5" dual exits ) and you will get a deeper sound. on a single run it 2.5" with a 3.5" Magnaflow tip.

it means single in/ dual out. refers to the inlets and outlets on the muffler

yeah, single in / dual out it means, single inlet, dual outlet, theres other terms too

si/so = single in & out
si/do = single in dual out
di/do = dual in & out

The larger the intermediate pipe ( pipe between cats & muffler ) the deeper the sound will be, the smaller it is the louder & less deeper it will sound, will pop and crackle like crazy. Thats why running a 3" single inlet & 2.5" tailpipes with 3.5" - 4" thick tips is the best way to go.

I hang my head in shame, but I have to admit, I bought one of these:

Z Flow Mufflers are exact replicas of the very popular Flowmaster muffler. It is made out of the same high quality aluminum casing, and the insides are the exact same. You will get the great deep throaty sound of Flowmaster, but at a fraction of the cost.
The same company also makes this:

Is anyone else running this pipe and tip set up? Is my 99 v6 already a 3" single inlet & 2.5" tailpipe stock? If it is all I would need is a 3.5" to 4" tip right? Thanks Ben
