True duals?
True duals?
I have the flowmaster 40 series with duals. My question is I want it to be a little bit louder than it is right now, but not too excessive. I don't mind the noise but the police do. I was thinking about maybe going to mienekie and getting them to weld up duals after the cats and then go to a dual in-dual out muffler an then over the rear axle and exit 45 degrees. I would reuse the SS Flowmaster tips though. What do you guys think? What price range am I looking at and what muffler should I do that is going to be louder and give me a DI/DO 2.5"
Thanks guys!

The maximum amount of noise you can get is that which is after the cats. Going to duels, this, that or the other thing is at best have very, very minimal increase in sound- unless you change mufflers. To see just how much you can get, go to a muffler shop, have them dis connect the muffler or pipe after the cats, fire up the engine and you will then know in terms of sound what is available.
IMHO, I bet you won't see that big of a difference.
Oh I mean I do all the work myself, but I was thinking now about getting a y pipe and clamping it in place of the flowmaster. That way it's cheap (27 bucks) and I can throw the muffler in there for inspection because it would take 2 sec to swap. I would just weld on some tubing to the y pipe to make it fit. Then it's just a matter of 3 clamps to swap it all out
i would suggest a magnaflow tru-x muffler. split your Y and run two in and two out. the internal x-pipe equals out the pressure while giving it a deep throaty sound. the smaller you go, the louder they are. I ran a 9x12 for a while and swapped it out with a 12x22. they both sound real nice, but the 12x22 is a little less anoying at highway speeds.

the magnaflows and dynomax mufflers are the same design, so their tones are very similar. the Bullets will put out more sound because they are smaller then then any of magnaflows mufflers (maggy: 4x14, bullets: 4x12)
everyone here seems to be sayin x pipe and bullets, but why spend almost 3 times as much when you can get the same sound when the tru-x has the x-pipe integrated and does the same as the bullets?
just me, but i'd rather spend 80 bucks for the muffler than 120 for the two bullets and 60 or so for the x-pipe.
