Some did, but in a round about way.

why would a factory sit people there brazing when they have machines and robots that do everything?

same with Magnaflow - my fully polished Tru-X muffler is an absolute work of art. I would have looked just as good hanging on the wall as it did under the truck. don't know where you're lookin, but i think they have an idea of what they're doin.

Let me get this straight , are you callin g me a liar? The Y is Flanged - It is welded and brazed on the 98 F150. Mann, theres prolly so many different configurations by year/model that it really doesn't matter. What pupose would I have to make things up ? I will mention one thing - If you think you have a stainless Y from the Ford Factory here in Dearborn - Your freakin HIGH!!

Never mind , I can see I wasted allot of time here . That's okay , someone will find this post helpful in the future . Someone who works on there own vehicles..

Simply put. The answer yes, it can be welded a few different ways and brazed as well..

I just wanted to know if it was possible for a shop to do it and/or if it was a financially reasonable undertaking to have a shop perform. That said, you didn't answer my question, yet provided some dissertation on how actually perform the mod. Reading Kompreehenshun. Smart one....

yes i can read. better than most it seems. i asked if it was possible and if the average shop had the ability to do it. the ones i've been to only work with aluminized. i DID NOT ask for the procedure, methods, materials and theory behind welding. the gist of the original post was to find out if it would be an expensive endeavor to buy a $500 catback that sounds and performs like i want, but doesn't look how i want it to, and then pay even more money to modify it to get it how i like it.

i love it when people assume they know something about others from behind a keyboard. oooo...you know how to make two pipes stick together. big deal. i guess you could say i've done a couple things to a few engines:

thanks for playing.
