AF1 Installed! (pics)

I got my 3" airforce one all installed last night and love it.

I came from a 4cyl turbo background and I always loved the sound of that turbo spooling - so I love that you can hear the AF1 sucking in air - especially at low speeds (when my exhaust isn't drowning it out). It also loudened up my exhaust a bit. Everything sounds amazing.

As for power and response - there is definitely an increase, although I couldn't feel it as drastically as I thought I would... But - you can definitely feel it.

The truck also just feels like it has a much easier time driving. Feels like it's not working nearly as hard as it used to.

I've been tracking my gas mileage since I bought my truck in September - so we'll see how if this ups my fuel economy at all.

Im most likely going to get this intake after winter but I have a few questions.

I had a AEM brute force on my previous truck (2003 f150 FX4) and I could not hear it make any noise at all...I think it made my exhaust a little louder but it did not make any "sucking" noises or droning.

I do NOT want any droning from my next intake. I a little bit of a sucking noise at take off or something would be cool but I dont want any annoying sounds when cruising. There are mixed opinions on this intake and droning and I dont know what to believe....does it drone?!

Thanks for any help.

mine does not drone at all... it just has a nice growl and you can hear the air moving through the stainless steel intake as soon as you step on it or when you're cruising at low speeds. it's not obnoxious and is really only noticeable with your windows down.

i have the 3" AF1 and a custom exhaust with a flowmaster muffler.
i do a lot of interstate driving, if it droned, i would die.

3" AF1 on the 4.6L here and there is no drone whatsoever when cruising at any speed. You will hear it drawing air when you're on the throttle, but it's a very nice sound

I wouldn't count on any significant gains in mpg. I haven't seen any, though it sure hasn't hurt my mpg either.

I'd recommend it to anyone.

No drone with my AF1 either, just sucking when I jump on it. Must be quite loud cause I get looks when I pass people on the freeway, I don't know though, cause I can't hear it over my exhaust.

well, as i said earlier - i keep close track of gas mileage and there has been no improvement in my gas mileage with the AF1 intake...

Average Before Mods: 16.166
Average After AF1 Intake: 15.23

HOWEVER, we've had snow ever since i installed the intake, so i've had a couple hundred extra pounds of sand above my rear axle...

i also just got my superchips 1715 in the mail, but i'm trying not to tune my truck until i can get some accurate fuel measures (without sandbags).

but damn it's hard to not hook that 1715 up!

Don't forget about the winter blends of gas and colder temps.
