Want new exhaust and great sound... what brand???

I just bought my 07 F-150 and want to beef up the exhaust. I was looking at Flowmaster but don't know what series I should get. Any help with Flowmaster or do any of you know a better brand (Borla, Magnaflow, etc.) that gives great, beefy sound and helps with gas mileage? Please help...

I am really happy with my Magnaflow SI/SO 3". Nice deep tone. I am not sure about any mileage gains yet. Just installed last week.

The Magnaflows simply out preform the Flowmaster. I've had both . Flowmaster hurts performance with less overall torque than a stock muffler set up.

The Muflers you want to look at are -

Roush,Borla,Gibson and Magnaflow to name a few. These manufacturers concentrate on performance gains were Flowmaster just uses chambered echoes of sound to make you happy. They sell sound and find suckers all over to fall for it..A little sad , but true..

jbrew is absolutely 100% correct! You want to look at mufflers with the straight through design, Dynatech and Spintech are two more to add to that list.

i dont think spintech is straight through, it uses baffles to create a "spinning effect" of gas flow, correct?

I'd take a good look at dynomax for straight through mufflers that sound good.

I used to have the Magnaflow SI/SO and now have the Roush off-road. IMO, the Roush sounds MUCH better - it's deeper and more powerful sounding. The Roush system is of higher quality stainless steel as well.

You have to have a supercrew with a 5.5 bed or a supercab with a 6.5 bed for it to work. (Don't know your exact configuration.)

This is a pretty tough call, many like many things. Magnaflow seems to be favored above Flowmaster, but Borla is getting there too. Me personally, I like my K&N made by JBA, straight thru stainless 3" with a polished 3.5" tip. It's pretty good and loud, sounds like a big block.

I would of liked to go Bassani if I could, they didn't have a system for me though. They sound incredible on Lightnings. I've got 3" dual Spintech's in stainless for my 64 Galaxie, apparently they flow ALOT. They have that different NASCAR sound to them because NASCAR uses their exhaust tubing I've heard. I liked my Dynomax system too, just was pist it rotted so I went stainless.

Basically, find someone with an exhaust you like and in you're configuration then go from there. Can't really go wrong with any, some are just a bit better. Most manufacturers have sound clips, but try places like Youtube for many more.
