exhaust help

exhaust help

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bought a used Magnaflow SISO exhaust system from a guy that posted a classified ad in another F-150 forum. I pulled my factory exhaust off tonight and started to install the Magnaflow system only to discover that I am missing a piece between the factory y-pipe and the muffler. From a search on the applicable forum, it turns out that the guy that sold it to me had a 2005 Supercab short bed while I have a 2007 Supercrew short bed. Accordingly, I am surmising that he failed to send me the additional tubing that comes with the kit for use on Supercrew trucks. I have, of course, emailed him to see if he has the missing piece, but it is probably too late to expect a reply, and it is certainly too late to call.

Here are my questions:
1. The seller lives a substantial distance from me. Even assuming the best case scenario (that he has the required missing piece and will send it promptly), what do I need to do in the interim? Assuming that I can live with the noise of the straight pipe directly after it joins together underneath the passenger side floorplan, will it hurt anything to run it with a straight pipe? I'm a little concerned about the heat since there is no turndown, as well as the lack of backpressure and the termination of the exhaust so close to the manifolds.
2. Assuming the worst case scenario (that the seller no longer has the required, missing piece), how do I deal with that? Do you think that Magnaflow would sell me that piece if I call?

I would appreciate any and all advice you can give on the subject.

I'm sure a muffler shop can help make you the missing piece. Sorry to hear about your problem.
