It will change the tone. Could be good, could be bad.
My buddy just bought an 05 Chevy Z71. We went ridin in it the first night and I was impressed with the sound of the exhuast. I asked him what it had, said he didn't know. I looked under there and there was no muffler. If I had to drive it everyday I think it may be a tad loud, but it sounds great.

That's the flip side. I know of a few who have gone straight thru pipe and the overall sound, including tone, sounded a lot better.
I just didn't have that luck with a vehicle overseas. It sounded real sweet with the headers/exhaust I installed and I wanted it a tad louder so I went for the popular scrap the muffler tune. It did get louder, however, it totally ruined the tone.
My experience is just a word of caution.
Maybe somebody who's removed their muffler on an AM exhaust can chime in with some feedback.

Try finding a really small glass packed muffler, or high flow cats, long tube headers will help but are kinda pricey. Or if u wanna be cheap and go with what some people have done - straight pipe it! But it will definately sound like Sh*t and be LOUD.
