Talking

I had a problem with my exhaust hangers but I called Roush and they are replacing the the whole system free of charge(see post). My truck is a daily driver and I get many compliments on how good my exhaust sounds. Deep race car growl at WOT but yet it quiets down when cruising around town or on the highway and no cabin drone like many others. I have heard numerous brands of exhaust sytems and I think nothing compares to the sound of the Roush. I don't think I would put anything else on and by comparison I believe you get the most power gains and performance from the Roush. Just my 2 cents.

Great that Roush replaced the system for free, but it sounds like it will happen again.

I too am looking at getting the Roush, but just don't want to go through the fixing over and over again.

I hope this is not gonna be a recurring problem myself. I guess I will find out when I get the the new exhaust. I still believe the welds were the problem, not the quality of the steel. Why would they use something that would create problems for their name and reputation??? I know all about cutting costs, but why cut costs on something like that when this is one of those "cut off your nose to spite your face things". Especially with all of those Roush mustangs, F150's, and other vehicles out there sporting these exhaust systems. Again, just my opinion.

I have had two vehicles with Borla systems and one of mine and one I installed on a friends truck were Magnaflows. The Borla is by far a better exhaust as far as sound, quality, and performance. Magnaflow exhausts are not a bad product, just not the quality that one should expect from an expensive aftermarket system.

I had a Borla on my 99 Mustang GT for 5 years without a single problem and it looked almost as good as new when I sold the car earlier this year. On the other hand, the Maganflow that I had on my 99 F-150 was rusted and sounded like crap eight months after it was installed. I really do not understand how you claim that the 409 is a better quality "Stainless" when it is covered in rust in only a few months. If you want a rusty exhaust in a few months, save yourself the money and buy a less expensive aluminized system.

Maganflows have more drone (my Roush [Borla] system on my 2007 FX4 has no drone at all) and the quality / fit of a Borla is unmatched in my opinion. I needed to take the Magnaflow for my 99 F-150 into an exhaust shop to get it to fit perfect.

Like I said before, they are not a bad exhaust, I just classify them as junk when you compare them to a Borla.

Ameration, do you think you could run your tire/wheel combo with a 2" level instead of the 2.5"? Also, how loud and/or aggresive sounding is the Roush compared to factory exhaust? Thanks again...
I doubt that you would be able to run a true 35" tire with only a 2" as I am pretty close with the 2.5" kit. There are a few that are doing it, but they may have needed to trim or will rub at full-lock.

Best thing to do is take it to a tire shop and have them test fit a 35" and see how much clearance you have when at full-lock.

As far as the exhaust goes, I have the "Legal" system and it is perfect for me. Deep, yet mellow, tone with no drone at all.

Thanks Ameration, I am taking your advice and ordering a Roush 'legal' system.

Get the off-road kit, you will not be disappointed with it. I was going to order the legal kit from woodhouse & Mike talked me into buying the off-road kit. I guarantee if I had bought the legal kit I would have been very disappointed. The off-road kit only comes to life when while at wot. At cruisning speeds it has a very nice mellow tone to it and you can still carry on a conversation with the people in the truck. Just my 2cents worth though

Thanks for the feedback, I'm just worried the off-road will be too loud for me. I'm only looking for a little louder than stock, with a better tone. But from what you're saying, this is what the off-road kit does. You're right I would be dissapointed if the legal isn't loud enough...
