Just stock cats.

The Dynomaxs are leaps and bounds ahead of the Flowmasters but than again most mufflers are better than the Flowmasters in terms of performance.

H-Pipe's are associated with classic deep exhaust notes. X-Pipe's are associated with racy raspy exhaust notes, but they tend to give you a little more performance. I am not saying one sounds better than the other, just relaying to you the difference. I actually like the racy sound, but that's me. I don't have either on my truck, but I have had them on my mach 1. I don't believe on a truck you will notice the difference between the two performance wise unless you put it on a dyno.

Hey Blake,

I wasn't trying to flame, but to educate. We're here to help, but when you call someone names it doesn't help your cause.

Like Thump said earlier, if you just want plain loud, go straight pipes... or add headers. As for real performance gains, you probably won't see much by modding exhaust. Maybe a few HP here and there, but on such a heavy truck you'll never notice. Now with TP tunes you can see some decent gains.

Here's my dyno chart after getting my Troyer Tunes (and note that even with my "Slowmasters" I put down 320+ tq.)

Here's what mine sounds like with an x-pipe....

I don't think that sounds racy or raspy.

NCSU, are you running stock cats or hi flows??

And if you dont mind me asking, what TP tunes do you have??
I am thinking 87 perf, 87 tow, and 93 perf....

It's cool man...

I'm running stock cats and 2 SISO flowmaster 40's right now. (If you click on the little camera thingy near the top right of my post you can see pictures of my exhaust setup under the album MMMTRUCK)

As far as TP goes, I got the 3.25" AirForceOne intake (which requires a custom tune to avoid leaning out the A/F too much) and the 87 perf, 93 tow, 93 perf. So far I have only have been running the 93 perf. I don't tow very often so I haven't had to switch to the tow program yet.

With gas as expensive as it is, it actually makes more sense to run the 93 octane. Lets say regular is $2.79 and premium is $2.99, that's only a 7% increase in fuel costs.

If gas were cheap again, say $1.79 for regular and $1.99 for the 94 octane, that's an increase of 11+%.

So, the more expensive gas gets (assuming that premium stays ~$0.20 above regular) it becomes more cost effective to use premium since you get better fuel economy from premium than regular.

But for me, it just boils down to the fact that I knew going into the purchase of the truck that gas mileage and cost weren't things I was going to worry about. So if I can get the extra power of the 93 octane, that's what I'm going to do.

If you order tunes thru TP, be prepared for a fairly lengthy wait. I think some people have been waiting on the order of 3+ months. Don't worry, it's definitely worth the wait.
