Dual Sorrows

Got true duals put on today with no muffler on my '02 5.4 f-150 sounds great i love how it raps when you first take off but the problem is this only last for a couple minutes then i'm assuming that as the truck warms up this goes away. It's pretty loud now but how can i keep that rap without going ungodly loud?

My brother had true dual straightpipes put on his '97 4.6 back in June, it is getting louder and does it more the more he drives it.

I believe that's happening because the convertor is warmed up and restricting the exhaust. Nothing I can think of that will fix it other than getting rid of them. (insert legality issue here). Not what you wanted to hear, but I think thats whats goin on..

Interesting

Eliminating the muffler is doing nothing for your performance.
The only thing its doing is causing a racket. Also when the cat gets warm all it does is expand and contract with heat. I do not believe that you guys are running straight pipes.

Just my 2 cents install a performance exhaust.

My brother got 3 mpg better on the highway since his little 4.6 isn't always grabbing for third or the odd second on hills like it used to. It is alwful hard to knock what works, and it really woke it up around town as well. It really isn't that loud unless you really stand on the pedal, at which point it sounds like a machine gun.

I gotta disagree, removing the stock muffler off my truck really opened it up. Back pressure dropped from before to after removal and my truck felt like a burden had be lifted from it.

Mine does the same thing. It pops/cackles alot more when the truck's cold. If you want that sound, I don't think there's much you can do about it.
